Red cell antigen genotyping reports

To support physicians, nurse practitioners, medical laboratory technologists, and other healthcare providers in interpreting red cell antigen genotyping reports, Canadian Blood Services has created two online courses. Use the "A quick glance" course for a brief overview of basic report interpretation. BloodTechNet

Educational resources developed with funding from the BloodTechNet program in support of the Transfusion, Cellular Therapy and Transplantation communities in Canada.

Bloody-Easy Lite

This course (2 modules) will help the learner to describe pre-transfusion testing, summarize indications for transfusion of red cells, platelets, plasma and cryoprecipitate, recognize adverse reactions to transfusion, and manage the most frequent transfusion reactions.

Bloody Easy Blood Administration

The content of this course (1 module) was updated in 2014 and reflects current best practices. It will help the learner explain or describe the risks of transfusion, the significance of the ABO and Rh blood group systems, and what these systems mean in terms of blood compatibility for patients. It provides an overview of blood and blood products, the risks associated with them, and how they should be administered. In addition, it describes the types of transfusion reactions that may occur.

Intravenous Immune Globulin Neuromuscular Video

A presentation on behalf of the BC IVIG Neuromuscular Neurology Task Force. The Task Force consists of a Neuromuscular Specialist from every health authority in BC and has established a provincial review panel.
