What is the LearnTransfusion series?

The LearnTransfusion series is the seminar component of the Areas of Focused Competency (AFC)-Diploma Program in Transfusion Medicine. The series is also open to all practitioners in the field of Transfusion Medicine. Through a series of regular webinars, trainees and practitioners are exposed to various scientific, technical and clinical aspects of transfusion medicine.

How can I attend the LearnTransfusion series?

The LearnTransfusion series is delivered via weekly webinars organized by Canadian Blood Services. The series offers “Topic Teaching”, “Scientific Sessions”, and “Journal Club Reports”. Webinars usually take place on Tuesday mornings at 12 noon ET from September to June. The series is complemented by University of Toronto Transfusion Rounds, which are sponsored by ORBcON. Transfusion Rounds take place at 12 noon ET on the fourth Thursday of the month and are also broadcast online.  For more information about these Transfusion Rounds please go to http://transfusionontario.org/en/webcasts/

Is the LearnTransfusion series accredited?

Yes, the LearnTransfusion series presentations are self-approved group learning activities (Section 1) as defined by the Maintenance of Certification program of The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. A certificate of attendance is provided to attendees who attend and complete the presentation surveys.
