The Second Annual Hematology Update is an exciting and innovative conference that will be held online and in-person in Edmonton at the Robbins Learning Pavilion at the Royal Alexandra Hospital on Saturday, April 13, 2024. All sessions will be recorded and available for viewing at your convenience.

With a combination of plenaries, short snappers and workshops, this one-day conference will deliver a focused update on optimal clinical practice in hematology. The Annual Hematology Update is suitable for family physicians, internists, nurses and nurse practitioners, allied health professionals, pharmacists, fellows, residents, and medical students. Topics include hemoglobinopathies, iron deficiency, thrombosis, navigating referrals to hematology, and many more!

Learning Objectives

  1. Analyze current hematological issues in primary care medicine and review new evidence-based guidelines for the diagnosis and management of hematological diseases and disorders commonly encountered in primary care.
  2. Discuss cases regarding new treatment options.
  3. Identify new evidence-based treatments using the most up to date clinical and scientific information.
  4. Explain the importance of improving care coordination amongst the interprofessional team to enhance the management of patients with hematological diseases and disorders.
