Hosted by the Living Donation Program at UHN

This session is intended for patients, caregivers, family and healthcare providers - but anyone who is interested is welcome!

The national Kidney Paired Donation (KPD) program is an interprovincial program that is operated collaboratively between Canadian Blood Services and Canada’s living kidney donation and kidney transplant programs. Since January 2009, more than 500 living donors across Canada have shared the gift of life through the national Kidney Paired Donation program, including 90 non-directed (not directed towards a friend or family member) anonymous donors. (From the Canadian Blood Services website, read more.)

KPD at UHN

In addition to a live Q&A, this interactive webinar will answer frequently asked questions about KPD including:

  • Is KPD operating during COVID-19?
  • Who manages the kidney transplant waitlist? How are decisions made about who receives a kidney?
  • Do living donors have to travel to donate?
  • What are the pros and cons of participating in KPD versus waiting for a deceased donor kidney?
