The British Columbia Transfusion Medicine Rounds is a monthly 1-hour educational rounds with a multidisciplinary audience bringing together pathologists, clinicians, nurses, technologists, and researchers from British Columbia and throughout Canada who have an interest in Transfusion Medicine. 

For Fellows of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, The British Columbia Transfusion Medicine Rounds is a self-approved group learning activity (Section 1) as defined by the Maintenance of Certification program of The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.

Learning objectives:

  1. To emphasize the importance of accurately identifying TACO as a major transfusion-related risk.
  2. To present key findings on TACO incidence from active surveillance data.
  3. To highlight clinical implications for transfusion safety and decision-making.
  4. To determine the optimal furosemide dose to prevent TACO based on patient-specific factors.
