Learning objectives

Objectives:

  1. Identify post-pandemic blood supply challenges.  Assess the trends of blood utilization in Canada pre and post COVID-19
  2. Analyze current RBC utilization dynamics.  Evaluate how population growth & healthcare trends, other systemic issues have influenced RBC demand
  3. Discuss developing national strategies for sustainable blood utilization.  Discuss CBS initiatives to enhance data collection, collaboration with customers

The LearnTransfusion series is the seminar component of the Areas of Focused Competency (AFC)-Diploma Program in Transfusion Medicine. The series, organized by Canadian Blood Services, is also open to all practitioners in the field of Transfusion Medicine. Through a series of regular webinars, trainees and practitioners are exposed to various scientific, technical and clinical aspects of transfusion medicine.
