Learning objectives

1. Understand the Preparation and Broad Clinical Use of IVIG:

Participants will be able to describe the process of IVIG preparation and recognize its extensive use in various autoimmune and immune-mediated diseases, gaining insight into its widespread clinical application.

2. Examine the Proposed Mechanisms of IVIG and the Debate Surrounding Them:

Participants will critically evaluate the range of mechanisms proposed for IVIG action, with a focus on the uncertainties in the literature, particularly the role of Fc receptor blockade in diseases like Immune Thrombocytopenia (ITP).

3. Explore Emerging Alternatives and Recent Research on Fc Receptor Blockade:

The series, organized by Canadian Blood Services, is also open to all practitioners in the field of Transfusion Medicine. Through a series of regular webinars, trainees and practitioners are exposed to various scientific, technical and clinical aspects of transfusion medicine.
