Learning objectives

  1. To review the relevance of assessing the risk of transmission of cerebral amyloid angiopathy through transfusion 
  2. To present a recent observational study discussing an association between blood transfusions from donors with subsequent intracerebral hemorrhage, and an increased risk of intracerebral hemorrhage for recipients 
  3. To critically appraise an observational study in the context of transfusion medicine

The LearnTransfusion series is the seminar component of the Areas of Focused Competency (AFC)-Diploma Program in Transfusion Medicine. The series, organized by Canadian Blood Services, is also open to all practitioners in the field of Transfusion Medicine. Through a series of regular webinars, trainees and practitioners are exposed to various scientific, technical and clinical aspects of transfusion medicine.
