The International Collaboration for Transfusion Medicine Guidelines’ (ICTMG) Use of Intravenous Albumin guideline: Moving evidence into practice

Join the third Breakthroughs in blood: Advancements into action 1.5 hour webinar as Dr. Sheharyar Raza discusses Use of Intravenous Albumin: A Guideline From the International Collaboration for Transfusion Medicine Guidelines published in the peer reviewed journal CHEST in March 2024.   

Albumin is used across a wide range of clinical settings to improve hemodynamics, to facilitate fluid removal, and to manage complications of cirrhosis; however, few evidence-based indications support the routine use of albumin in clinical practice to improve patient outcomes. This guideline provides actionable recommendations for health-care professionals on the use of albumin in common clinical settings.

4. Discuss the evidence and recommendations for appropriate albumin use in settings where it is commonly prescribed (cirrhosis, critical care, kidney failure, cardiovascular surgery). 
5. Learn from the panel experts about how they are working to improve the evidence-base for albumin and their efforts to de-prescribe albumin at their organizations.
