Canadian Blood Services manages and operates the Kidney Paired Donation (KPD) Program for Canada. The KPD Program uses the sophisticated matching algorithm software in the Canadian Transplant Registry to identify chains of donor kidney exchanges and assists the provincial programs with the work required to bring the proposed transplants to completion. Other work to increase and improve living kidney donation includes:
Development and maintenance of public education materials on living donation and the KPD program
Provision of data and analytic services to inform system improvements
Collaboration with the kidney transplant community to develop and implement leading practices focused on increasing transplants from living donation and optimizing patient care, safety and outcomes.
